BICLM Zoom Background Series: George Herriman’s Krazy Kat

George Herriman’s masterful creation, Krazy Kat, pushed the boundaries of language, abstraction, gender and philosophy in newspaper comics from 1913-1944.  Set in a surreal version of Coconino County, Arizona, where Herriman vacationed, we thought there could be no better candidate for our second installment of BICLM Zoom Backgrounds than Krazy Kat‘s scratchy, angular, and strangely serene locale.

BICLM Zoom Background Series: Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland

We could all use a break from reality these days, but so many of us find ourselves attached to the computer for virtual meetings. Why not bring a little escapism into your day with the help of Winsor McCay? The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum will be releasing a series of virtual backgrounds for Zoom, and up first is the early master of fantasy who brought us Little Nemo in Slumberland (1905). Few cartoonists in the past century have matched McCay’s ability to create luscious, immersive worlds, brought to life in full color on massive Sunday newspaper pages at the turn of the century.

It’s our hope that these Zoom backgrounds bring a little dreamland to your waking days!
