Join Beth Kattelman, Curator of the Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute (TRI), and Mara Frazier, Curator of Dance at TRI for a live conversation with playwright, actor and director Ted Lange (best known for his role as Isaac the Bartender on the long-running television series "The Love Boat").
Recently, Lange has been writing plays and directing for the theatre. He has written over 25 plays that have been produced throughout the country. His play, "The Cause, My Soul, the Prequel to Othello" was presented at the Odyssey Theatre and at the North Carolina Black Theatre Festival, winning the NAACP Theatre Awards’ Best Play of 2017. This year, Lange has been involved with several online projects. He has produced online readings of his theatrical works and he remotely directed an episode for the upcoming series "The Myth of Control" (LDNO Productions). The project is international in scope and was entirely shot, produced and edited online during the COVID-19 lockdown. The series will be released later this year.
In this webinar, Lange will discuss the challenge of connecting creatively from a distance and will talk about the changing nature of show business. During the program, Kattelman will also share information about the Ted Lange Papers, a collection housed at TRI that is open to all researchers.
