Spanning nearly one hundred years, the Archives’ collection of The Ohio State University Annual Reports offers a detailed look at the yearly operations of the university. The tone of the first reports is diary-like, recounting in great detail the university’s founding and humble beginnings. As time goes on, the reports become more business-like, offering not only an overall picture of the conditions under which the university is operating, but detailed accounts of budget, staff, faculty, and Ohio State-managed facility changes. In more recent years, the reports have evolved into promotional pieces, showing how the university shaped the lives of its students and overall community.
