Transcript of the Friendship 7 Radio Communications
Accessed through this page is a transcript of the radio communications between John Glenn and the various ground controllers stationed around the world during the Friendship 7 space flight. The transcript was taken from the tape recorder located on board Glenn’s spacecraft.
The radio transcript’s format contains the following four columns:
Column 1 – elapsed time from launch in hours, minutes, and seconds
Column 2 – time required for a specific radio transmission
Column 3 – person transmitting
CC – Capsule Communicator
P – Pilot
CT – Communications Technician
S – Surgeon
Sy – Systems
Column 4 – message transmitted
