Construction of Ohio Stadium
Arches
(Image: Work continues on the concrete bleachers, no date) Wooden forms for the 85-foot-high north dome were completed in the summer of 1922, and by about the first of July, upper deck seating had been completed. The original seats were, in fact, long benches, three strips of wood running the length of a concrete step 30 inches wide and 17 inches high, allowing foot room behind each row. Laid in a line, Ohio Stadium’s seats would reach from Columbus to Delaware, Ohio.
