- Caption on verso: "Treviso Italy. Italian prisoners ret from Austria. Hundreds stopping here enroute home. Sent part way by rail then put off and left to walk across northern Italy. Some walked steadily from 8 to 11 days. Groups still confined to enclosures (Nov 16, 1918) account inadequate facilities for handling"

- The Hine photos form part of the second collection purchased from Floyd and Marion Rinhart, who bought the set from Paul Couper. He acquired them from Ada C. Booth, widow of Capt. L.R. Booth, a member of the Allied Red Cross delegation in Europe.
