Other Uses of Ohio Stadium
Pageant and fete
(Image: May Fete, 1921) Dance of the Winds, May Fete 1921 Theater was among the Stadium's earliest proposed alternative uses. H.D. Smith's original plan provided for the setup of platforms from the five to the fifteen yard line at the Stadium's north end, creating an impromptu amphitheater for 20,000 people. The Columbus Citizen advertised the new Stadium as a "center for outdoor pageants, Greek plays, May fetes, Shakespeare plays, operas," and proposed that projector rooms could be placed in the north towers, turning the north end into a giant outdoor movie house. For 30 years, little came of this enthusiasm.
