(Image: Women's Physical Education students in Stadium Week Youth Parade, 1920) Seeking to harness an active political movement - as when Mrs. Thompson made Ohio Field an emblem of temperance - organizers symbolically yoked the development and progress of women as a class to the new Stadium. Scores of uniformed women in physical education classes marched in the Stadium Youth Parade, performing drills and calisthenics. A pageant staged for Stadium Week, "Females' Farcical Fete," charted women's improving condition from pre-history to the modern age. In it, Medi woman is blinded by Superstition, and Modern woman is entranced by Frivolity. The Spirits of Wholesome Play appeal to a Super-Eve, but are thwarted by Lack of Space
