Complete

These projects completed all of their selected work.

  • (tick) Carmen Library Link
Partner with ODEE in implementing a CLL for Canvas.
Rolled out by ODEE for Autumn term.
  • (tick) (blue star) Same Day Study Room Reservations
This Executive request was made in response to a USG request.
Deployed prior to the start of Autumn term, along with a few general enhancements.

Stalled

These projects were delayed for various reasons, and didn’t complete their stated objectives. Some are rescheduled for the next quarter.

  • (minus) Controlled Vocabulary
This project is to allow data entry to select and record controlled vocabulary entries for certain Image Collections fields.
This was delayed to allow full concentration on Sufia 7 Upgrade.
  • (minus) Discovery Pilot
The recommendation of the Discovery System Management Working Group for a proof of concept consolidated and faceted search result page.
This recommendation was deferred for more planning and research.
  • (minus) Sufia/Hydra Image Server Functionality
Terry Reese has identified an opportunity where we might be able to co-develop with some of our Hydra Partner peers to further develop the functionality of Sufia/Hydra and its use of IIIF image server.
This is not likely to happen until perhaps next quarter.
  • (minus) Patron Load
Partner with ODEE in increasing the number of endpoints and batching to further improve the performance of Patron Load.
    ODEE too busy with Canvas.
  • (minus) Hours/Locations
There have been requests for fixes and enhancements of the Hours/Locations app/widgets. We also have collected useful feedback from the locations focus groups. And we would want to add additional data elements to the app so the information can be leveraged by other apps and future website via API.
Not started due to competing priorities.

In Process

These projects kind of just keep chugging along, disregarding human notions of time. We kind of expect that, but they will end one day, the first even in October 2016.

  • (plus) Sufia 7/Fedora 4.5 (New Digital Collections)
This is an important next step in improving the functionality of the Image Collections system and the reliability of the underpinning technologies.
This project, along with ongoing support of IMS, has occupied the largest portion of developers’ time this quarter. Target date for roll out of Digital Collections (replacement for IMS) is October. Building on the Sufia 7/Fedora 4.5 platform is a multi-quarter project.
  • (plus) IT Security Tasks (Ongoing)
In order to operate a secure and reliable infrastructure, we have a structured list of best practices and requirements for Security Compliance. With Matt Jewett’s guidance, we have been addressing these from several directions, including systems and network security, application controls, and policy.  This is work that we have been performing as part of our maintenance cycle. We are changing this from a project to an systems overhead line item.
  • (plus) Migration Off of OCIO Web Hosting
Work to get the remaining content off of the OCIO Web Hosting server.  They are changing the terms of their hosting service, and we are coming to rely less and less on this platform. Remaining features that need to be migrated are documents, downloads, projects (exhibits and albums), staff, and wikis.
This project is moving forward with our new web developer.
  • (plus) Drupal Infrastructure
Stand up multi-tiered Drupal infrastructure, build test modules for pulling in data from APIs, get ready for requirements from consultants for website redesign.
The new web developer is in the analysis phase and is working with the sysadmins to get this installation started.
