Summary |
- In 1978, Howard Brookner, director and film producer, interviewed William S. Burroughs for his film, titled “Burroughs: The Movie,” a documentary about Burroughs’ life and work. Side A: In this recording, dated December 18, 1978, Burroughs and his companions discuss Iranian politics, talking about the then hypothetical fall of the Shah, the Iranian mullahs, the overthrown Mohammad Mosaddeq, the Iranian secret police organization, SAVAK, and a overall lack of knowledge of the situation in Iran by the American government. The recording then moves on to Burroughs dictating letters about the Nova Convention, upcoming conferences, and well wishes, to his assistant, James Grauerholz, to type out on a typewriter. Burroughs also discusses scientific topics, including the existence of reality, image alteration from cameras, black holes, traveling to new universes, and the speed of light before moving on to his upcoming trip to Boulder, Colorado.
