Summary
  • Thimble Theatre: Castor finally makes it out of the desert but before he does he buys some land and a what he thinks is a lake but is really a mirage. The man who sold him the lake sticks around and laughs at Castor. He sees others laughing at him trying to sell fishing tackle. He sees and hears a couple of bums who kid around they need to take their annual bath in the mirage. He is angry he was a sucker to buy that mirage. He buys a pail of water from a man and has him dump it over his head. He goes up to the guy that sold him the mirage all wet and tells him he fell out of his canoe and nearly drowned.
  • Sappo: John gets dressed up in a new outfit. He hasn't done that in years. Myrtle asks him if he wants to go out for a walk. She tells him she doesn't have anything nice to wear and asks if he can give her ten dollars to run out and get a new hat. He goes back in the bedroom and comes out in his old clothes so Myrtle doesn't need to go out and it saves him ten dollars.
