  • This printing plate features a photo of Dr. Thomas C. Poulter, Amory H. Wait Jr., and E. J. Demas. It is the photo only and not the corresponding caption. There is some damage to the plate. The corresponding page in The Romance of Antarctic Adventure has a caption which reads: "Dr. Thomas C. Poulter with his Aides, Amory H. Wait, Jr., Radio Operator, and E. J. Demas, Chief Mechanic, Just Before They Started Out on the Perilous Journey to Meet Admiral Byrd at Advance Base."
