  • This illustration in the supplement on p. 275 for the newly-opened Riverside Drive in New York City. The city acquired the land in 1872 with the intention of constructing the drive and contiguous parks. On May 7th, 1880 the barriers were removed and the drive opened for the residents. The contractors were Messrs Decker & Quintard.
