Summary
  • On "Black Studies Beat", Professor William E. Nelson Jr. interviews Peter Davis of the Correctional Institutions Inspection Committee for the Ohio General Assembly. They discuss how Black inmates and their families are disproportionately impacted by prison overcrowding, ruralization of prisons, and the consistent violation of incarcerated individuals' rights by the state. Davis also discusses statistics and events that illustrate problematic nature of prison ruralization and legislation enabling the prison industrial complex. Rehabilitation and non-violent offenders are also discussed.
