John H. Mercer Papers

Mercer (1922-1987) was a glaciologist who worked as a research scientist for the Ohio State University's Institute of Polar Studies, later known as the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center, from 1960-1987. He led and participated in numerous field studies on glacial geology and studied its relationship to global climate change. The John H. Mercer Papers contain research materials, such as aerial photographs, films, slides, field notebooks, correspondence, data reports, published and unpublished articles, and other administrative materials. The collection also contains reference materials, reviews of other researcher's work, and some personal documents and photographs. The materials date from 1912-1987, with the bulk dating from 1960-1987.
