The Centennial Committee was formed by Ohio State University President Novice G. Fawcett in 1967 in order to plan the celebration of Ohio State University's 100th anniversary in 1970. The Centennial Committee was formed by Ohio State University President Novice G. Fawcett in 1967. The committee, representing all the major units and interest groups of the university, was tasked with planning the celebration of Ohio State University's 100th anniversary in 1970, and with discussing what the University's goals for the next 100 years would be. The committee was chaired by Dr. Al Garrett, who was previously working as a Vice President under President Fawcett.
