Scope and Content

Mendez made daily recordings of her activities in the Soviet Union as part of her participation in the Women's Committee for International Friendly Visits, an exchange program under the auspices of the United Nations. The recordings were transferred from reel-to-reel tape to cassette. The box contains both sets of tapes, along with the original reel-to-reel recorder.

Awards received by Mendez for service and appreciation from The Ohio State University (President's Club, Distinguished Service Awards) National Cartoonists Society (Jester Award), The United States Navy, and Newspaper Features Council (Outstanding Contributions to Promote work of the Council and its Members), Anti-Defamation League; certificates of membership from National Cartoonists Society and Society of Illustrators.
