Digital Preservation

University Libraries is committed to actively stewarding our digital assets into the future. Digital preservation is a comprehensive set of managed activities that are necessary to achieve that goal to provide continued access to digital objects, beyond the limits of media failure or technological change. The Digital Preservation unit, in collaboration with other University Libraries units, works within our Digital Preservation Ethos Framework, to develop strategy, workflows and tools implementation to mitigate the most pressing digital preservations risks and threats in order to safely steward our digital assets.

The Digitization program and team supports University Libraries and its many communities of users by creating high-quality digital representations of content from the Libraries’ analog collections. The Digitization team’s processes and techniques align with users’ needs for digital collections that support teaching, learning and research.

The Digitization team stays current with evolving cultural heritage digitization standards and emerging technologies so that they can provide the best possible images to users worldwide. Digitization partners with colleagues across Libraries to build reliable digitization project workflows built on a continual improvement model, delivering both quality and efficiency.
