Details of the agreement…

The Ohio State University Libraries 2021-2024 Read and Publish agreement with the Royal Society is one annual fee for Read access and Open Access Publishing for Ohio State authors. The fee for 2021 was based on our most recent subscription spend and our average Article Processing Charge (APC) spend over two years. For 2022, the fee included a stabilized renewal cost for Read, and for 2023 the Read portion of the fee reflected the percentage change in the number of non-Open Access articles published over the two most recent rolling three-year periods with a safety cap of ±15%. The 2024 agreement fee includes a stabilized renewal cost for Read and a discounted cost for our average Article Processing Charge (APC) spend over two years. Ohio State has Read access to the full list of Royal Society journals and will retain perpetual access rights for Read content published during the 2021-2024 agreement period. The payment also covers the uncapped costs of opening articles for Ohio State corresponding authors. Ohio State corresponding authors choosing to take advantage of the agreement during submission will publish their accepted articles Open Access with a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license and will retain copyright. No contributions toward the APC costs from authors or funders will be required.
