TOME-Funded Author, Elizabeth Bond, Wins Pinkney Prize

Congratulations to Elizabeth Bond, Associate Professor, Department of History, on receiving the David H. Pinkney Prize for her book The Writing Public: Participatory Knowledge Production in Enlightenment and Revolutionary France published by Cornell University Press. The Society for French Historical Studies awards the David H. Pinkney Prize annually to the most distinguished book in French history by a North American author. Elizabeth’s book is freely available in Open Access editions thanks to funding from The Ohio State University Libraries as part of our participation in TOME (Toward an Open Monograph Ecosystem).

Publishing an Open Access monograph made a critical difference for my book, The Writing Public: Participatory Knowledge Production in Enlightenment and Revolutionary France (Cornell University Press, 2021). Increasing access to new knowledge is what The Writing Public is about. Thanks to TOME and The Ohio State University Libraries, my book is reaching a wider audience. -- Elizabeth Bond

Supporting Open Access Publishing at The Ohio State University

Latorre’s book, Democracy on the Wall: Street Art of the Post-Dictatorship Era in Chile (The Ohio State University Press, 2019), was the first book to be published by an Ohio State faculty member with TOME funding.

"The spirit of TOME is to make researched materials available to larger populations. Access to the information is free to anyone and open to everyone," Latorre says. "University Libraries understands the importance of opening up access of materials to a wider and more diverse audience."
