Open Pedagogy and Open Educational Practices (OEP) have not coalesced into one standard definition. Catherine Cronin defines OEP as “a broad descriptor of practices that include the creation, use, and reuse of open educational resources (OER) as well as open pedagogies and open sharing of teaching practices” in her article "Openness and Praxis: Exploring the Use of Open Educational Practices in Higher Education." Robin DeRosa and Rajiv Jhangiandi define Open Pedagogy as “a site of praxis, a place where theories about learning, teaching, technology, and social justice enter into a conversation with each other and inform the development of educational practices and structures” and as “an access-oriented commitment to learner-driven education AND as a process of designing architectures and using tools for learning that enable students to shape the public knowledge commons of which they are a part. We might insist on the centrality of the 5 Rs to this work” in their introductory Open Pedagogy Notebook essay.
