Morrison Tower
Mary Frank Morrison was the first woman to graduate from Ohio State, receiving her bachelor of science degree in 1879 (the University’s second graduating class).
In 1881 she married a classmate, Sidney Howell Short, who was later vice president of the University of Denver. She died in New York in August 1930.
Morrison Tower, a South Campus dorm that was originally for women only, was named for her upon its completion in June 1962. The 1972-1973 school year was the last year that Morrison Tower was a women’s dorm.
