Officially named Haskett Hall on May 9, 1968, the building was originally the Engineering Experiment Station and was completed in October 1925.

The Photography Department was supposed to be housed in Hitchcock Hall, but when that situation proved inadequate, Photography moved into Haskett while at the same time retaining some space in Brown Hall.

The building was named for Frank Haskett, the first Ohio State professor of photography (1907-1937) and first chair of the Department of Photography and Cinema (1929-1934).

The building was razed early in 2012 to make way for a new Chemical Biomolecular and Engineering and Chemistry building.
