The following program note was distributed at a concert on 14 January 1982 at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

“SONATA VI by Allen Sapp

Sonata VI is a companion piece to V and VII and is about things they are not. It is in a two-module form, the two parts of which involve altered perspectives on the same material. Each movement is a kind of Moebius strip of the other. It is prevailingly cool, with occasional flare-ups. It is dedicated to Joseph and Frances Poetker, Cincinnati folk who have been warm and caring of us.”
