Small Room Guidelines (Conference, Project Rooms, Consultation Room)
Who Can Use These Spaces
Research Commons rooms are available to graduate students, faculty, staff, and postdocs.
Undergraduates are not permitted.
How to Reserve a Room
Use our online system at go.osu.edu/rc-rooms (OSU login required).
You’ll receive a confirmation email with your room number and reservation details.
Reservation Policies
- Reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance.
- Same-day reservations are not accepted.
- Only one reservation per person, per day.
- If your group is more than 15 minutes late, the reservation is forfeited.
- Rooms are for group research and collaboration only—not for individual study.
- When not reserved, rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Conference Room Priority
Groups using video conferencing equipment have priority in the conference room.
Before You Leave
- Reset the room to its original setup.
- Violations of these rules will affect your ability to reserve in the future.

How to Request a Room
Email your request to researchcommons@osu.edu.
Reservations are considered for events that meet the target audience (grads, faculty, postdocs) and are related to:
- Interdisciplinary research
- Research training
- Showcasing research
Check-In and Setup
- Check in and out at the front desk.
- Include setup and teardown time in your reservation.
- Access begins at your scheduled start time.
- Leave the room clean and reset by the end of your reservation.
Furniture Use
- Do not move furniture between rooms.
- You may rearrange furniture within the room, but it must be returned to its original layout.
Policy Violations
Failure to follow these guidelines will affect your group’s ability to reserve rooms in the future.
