Understanding and Negotiating the Terms of Your Publishing Agreement (Workshop)

Join the University Libraries’ Copyright Services for a workshop on understanding and negotiating the terms of your publishing agreement. We will discuss common phrases and terms found in scholarly journal articles, how those terms may impact how you use and share your research, and tactics for retaining the rights that important to you. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to practice reviewing and negotiating terms using a sample publishing agreement.

The Changing Landscape of Scholarly Publishing (Panel)

Are you curious about how Ohio State scholars, editors, and the University Libraries are navigating the current scholarly publishing landscape? Do you have questions about how negotiations with publishers, Plan S, and Open Access publishing affect you and your discipline? Join us for a conversation on the changing environment of scholarly publishing. Our panelists will discuss how they see scholarly publishing changing, and the challenges and opportunities that presents from their perspective. They will share their insights, what has worked well, and how they have navigated challenges. You will have the opportunity to participate in the conversation by responding to the panelists from your own perspective.

Supporting Open Access Monograph Publishing: TOME@Ohio State (Panel)

Join the University Libraries’ Scholarly Sharing Program Area and a panel of authors as we celebrate Open Access Week. Our panel features Ohio State faculty members whose scholarly monographs have been funded as part of TOME@Ohio State.  TOME@Ohio State provides subvention funds to university presses for the publication and wide distribution of Open Access editions of humanities and humanistic social sciences monographs.

New Models of Scholarly Publishing (Panel)

Join us for a conversation on how scholars, journal editors, and the University Libraries are navigating and investing in new models of scholarly publishing. Our faculty panelists will discuss barriers they have faced as editors and scholars, as well as successes, and will highlight the challenges and opportunities they see with new and emerging scholarly publishing models. We will also share information on publishing ethics in today’s landscape and the services the Libraries provides in support of scholarly publishing.

$15,000 Publishing Grants for Open Access Digital Monographs in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences (Information Session)

The Ohio State University Libraries is funding Open Access scholarly monographs for Ohio State faculty in the humanities and humanistic social sciences and has committed to funding three awards a year. Awards of up to $15,000 each will be provided as subventions to participating university presses. Our next deadline for expressions of interest is February 1, 2019. To learn more about this initiative and how to submit an application, please attend this information session.
