The Rare Books & Manuscripts Library (RBML) has been an independently named unit of The Ohio State University Libraries since 1962. Over the past 60 years, RBML has grown into one of Libraries most diverse—and one of its largest—special collections units, with a variety of specialized collecting areas in addition to substantial general holdings.
The mission of RBML is to build and provide access to exceptional literary and historical collections that fulfill the interdisciplinary educational, research and outreach needs of our patrons, including the University’s faculty, undergraduate, and graduate student populations, external researchers, K-12 audiences and the general public.
