Personal, Noncommercial Photography
Personal, noncommercial photography is welcome in all University Libraries locations, but we ask that you be respectful of other visitors.
- Do not block doorways or stairs.
- Refrain from using flash photography.
- Extra lighting, tripods, selfie sticks and drones are not permitted.
- University Libraries reserves the right to protect the rights/comforts of ALL visitors if being interfered with by guests engaging in photography.
- Visitors not adhering to these guidelines may be asked to leave the premises.
Professional Photography and Filming
All professional filming and photography at University Libraries requires prior approval from University Libraries Marketing and Communications and requests must be submitted two weeks in advance at lib-marketing@osu.edu.
In addition, a location agreement must be signed before any filming or photography takes place.
Details of the request must include:
- Subject matter, detailed description and purpose
- Date, time and length of shoot
- Number of participants
- Space(s) desired
- Other relevant information
If a room must be closed off, normal rental rates will apply as outlined in our Room Rental information.
The photo shoot must not disturb normal library operations. This includes excessive conversation, blocking hallways or stairs, interference with patrons studying or disruption of library services. University Libraries reserves the right to stop the shoot if it is disruptive to normal library operations.
If the request is approved, participants must abide by the same policy prescribed for room rentals.
If furniture is moved, it must be returned to its original position.
Photo shoots will not be allowed the week of finals or the week before finals.
University Libraries reserves the right to modify these policies as needed.
