As e-resources metadata and discovery librarian, Sherab Chen leads the e-resources cataloging team to provide discovery and access points on the library’s online catalog for all e-resources. He prioritizes workflows for e-resources cataloging and MARC records batch loading, and develops local e-resources cataloging policies. His goal is to ensure all library e-content (including e-books, online journals, online media, and subscribed databases) are findable in a timely manner. He is the contact point for issues including holdings, discrepancy in cataloging records, and other bibliographic needs for all e-resources.
I joined University Libraries in 2004, with a background of research and translation in Tibetan Buddhism. I was first hired as the Coordinator for Non-Roman Cataloging Librarian, and then appointed to the current position in 2013. While with the role of librarianship, I am also on the faculty at OSU East Asian Studies Center, specializing in Tibetan Buddhist Studies and Classical Tibetan translations. I have also given presentations on Chinese tea cultures to various venues, including Office of International Affairs, and am the advisor to two OSU student organizations, the Tea Friends and the Buddhism Practice Group.
