University Libraries is pleased to announce that Gene Springs has accepted the Associate Dean for Content and Access role for The Ohio State University Libraries. Gene currently holds the position of Collections Strategist at University Libraries, which he began in August 2016. Gene also held the role of Business Librarian with University Libraries from 2014-2016.

As a member of University Libraries’ senior leadership, Gene will lead efforts to advance knowledge creation, enable student success and broaden community engagement through collections that support the university's academic plan and research agenda. He will collaborate with colleagues to develop a shared vision and advance and implement workflows for acquisitions, description, preservation, discovery and access, ensuring strong library support for the university's research, teaching and learning needs.

Gene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Masters degree in Library Science, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His appointment will begin February 1, and he will report to Damon E. Jaggars, Vice Provost and Dean of University Libraries.
