University Libraries Announces Cory Tressler as Assistant Dean for Technology and Digital Programs

University Libraries is pleased to announce that Cory Tressler has accepted the Assistant Dean for Technology and Digital Programs role for The Ohio State University Libraries. 

As a member of University Libraries’ senior leadership, Cory will partner with colleagues across Libraries to create a shared vision for and advance the development and implementation of applications, systems, and technology services that enhance digital initiatives and library operations. He will lead the Libraries’ Technology and Digital Programs division by providing a vision that advances the university’s research, teaching and learning, and outreach and engagement missions. Cory will work with a wide variety of campus partners to ensure robust library support for the university community and represent Libraries within OhioLINK, the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and other collaborative initiatives. 

Cory brings more than 15 years of technology experience to this role, including work in higher education and k12 education. He most recently served as strategic director of technology for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), providing strategic vision and operational IT leadership, as well as developing technology services for MORPC partners throughout central Ohio.  

Before joining MORPC, he spent almost ten years working in information and academic technology at Ohio State. His roles included director of learning programs and digital flagship and interim associate vice president of learning technology. In those positions, Cory spearheaded the Digital Flagship student success program and played a critical role in hybrid academic and work transitions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Cory received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from The Ohio State University, the first in English and the second in African American and African Studies. He earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina before returning to Ohio State for a Master of Arts in Educational Studies focusing on educational technology. His appointment will begin December 4, and he will report to Damon Jaggars, Vice Provost and Dean of University Libraries.
