We are proud to announce that The Ohio State University Libraries received the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The LEAD Award honors academic libraries’ programs and initiatives that encourage and support diversity, equity and inclusion across their campus. These include, but are not limited to research, technology, accessibility, exhibitions and community outreach. University Libraries will be featured, along with 55 other recipients, in the March 2024 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.
"This recognition serves as a testament to the collective efforts of our library community in creating an environment that not only supports academic pursuits but also contributes to the broader goal of societal improvement through accessible education, research and cultural understanding," says Thomas Dickens, Chief Diversity Officer, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for University Libraries. “We are dedicated to continuing the prioritization of diversity, equity and inclusion at University Libraries. These efforts are at the core of what we do to support our faculty, staff, students and community.”
Insight Into Diversity magazine selected The Ohio State University Libraries because our mission and values steer us toward our vision of what a 21st-century academic research library can and should be. This includes being committed to improving our communities by supporting access to high-quality, affordable education, fueling innovative research and building an inclusive culture that encourages open-minded exploration.
