The Ohio State University proposed building an on-campus conference center as early as 1964; the Center for Tomorrow was opened in 1970 and contained offices for WOSU television and radio stations, the Mershon Center for Education in National Security, the Alumni Association, the Development Fund, and the Alumni Records Division. It also contained conference rooms, a small dormitory, and a banquet hall, all designed to be used to support the University's efforts at continuing education. To honor his role in creating the center, the building was renamed the Novice G. Fawcett Center for Tomorrow in 1972. As of 2020, the Fawcett Center is used as an event space for conferences, trainings, and weddings.
