In 2011, a Vice President for Technology Commercialization was appointed by Ohio State University President Gordon Gee. This position was head of the Office of Technology Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer, an office responsible for guiding research and inventions produced by the University through the patent, marketing, and licensing process. It was also responsible for revenue and royalties received as a result of of this process. The office was originally part of the Office of Research and the Fisher College of Business. As of 2018, this office was known as the "Technology Commercialization Office," and reported to the Office of Business and Finance.
The Ohio State University, Office of Technology Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer Records contain a pamphlet produced by the Office of Technology Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer in 2012, and three reports produced by the office from 2012-2013. The pamphlet outlines the major objectives of the office, strategies for achieving those goals, statistics about innovation at the Ohio State University, some examples of technologies recently developed at the University, and a staff directory list.
