The Alfred N. Fowler Papers consist of documentary materials and files that pertain to Fowler's direct involvement in the Antarctic Treaty System during the period 1972-1997; and in particular to the role of the assembly of national Antarctic program managers and operators as they interacted with the contemporaneous international scientific and diplomatic entities. These materials record the inception and the first nine years performance of COMNAP, the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs.

Scope and ContentThe Alfred N. Fowler Papers occupy nineteen cubic feet and span the years 1963-2001. The collection documents Fowler's involvement in the Antarctic Treaty System from 1972-1997. These materials record the inception and first nine years performance of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP).

Processing InformationThe Alfred N. Fowler Papers were minimally processed by the repository. Materials were kept in the order in which they were received, although Archives staff reboxed the materials to fit standard archival shelving, and numbered boxes and folders accordingly.
Restrictions on AccessThe Alfred N. Fowler Papers are open to public research under the rules and regulations of The Ohio State University's Byrd Polar Research Center Archival Program.
