 Historical Note

The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) was established in 1987 by the Ohio Board of Regents, giving Ohio researchers online access to the computing resources of the new Ohio Supercomputer Center and providing a communication platform to link computers across the state. OARnet continued to expand its services throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2011, OARnet, the Ohio Supercomputer Center, and OhioLink merged into a single entity, called the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH). As of 2018, OARnet continues to connect Ohio's educational institutions, government agencies, and other institutions.
