            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>This collection contains a copy of the signed authorization to use Jesse Owens' name on athletic facilities, scholarships, and grants, dated 1972. It also contains correspondence between the Office of Minority Affairs' Director of Student Financial Aid, Joseph Stranges, the University's Development Officer, the Vice President for University Development, the Vice President for Student Services, and others regarding plans to develop a Jesse Owens Scholarship Fund. There are also signed, hand-written statements by Joseph Stranges, regarding who he met with to discuss the funding of scholarships in Jesse Owen's name and the outcome of those meetings. The materials are dated 1980.</p>
