 Historical Note

Block O is an undergraduate student organization at Ohio State University, founded in 1938 by cheerleader Clancy A. Isaac Jr. Considered to be the official student section of Ohio State football, Block O is known for its cheerleading efforts, card displays, and student participation. Block O is considered to be one of the largest student organizations on campus, with about 2500 members, and is not limited to football; it has subsidiaries for different athletics, such as men’s hockey, men’s and women’s basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, baseball, gymnastics, and wrestling. As of 2018, Block O is an active student organization.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University, Block O Records date from 1936 to 2018, and contain items such as photographs, scrapbooks, meeting minutes, and artifacts. Types of artifacts include award plaques, various items of Block O clothing, and Block O branded bags and mementos.
