Students for Peace and Disarmament was a student organization at Ohio State University. The group was established in 1980, then changed its name to Students for Peace and Justice in 1988 to reflect the role social justice plays in achieving peace. The group’s primary purpose was to promote peace through education and political statements; it was open to students, alumni, staff, and faculty. They held nonviolent protests and demonstrations on issues such as nuclear disarmament, national defense spending, CIA campus recruitment, and unequal access to education. Students for Peace and Justice was active until at least 1996.
The Ohio State University, Students for Peace and Justice Records contain correspondence, notes, and other materials related to the activities and research carried out by this organization. Collection materials are dated 1983-1996.
