As of 2018, Kappa Phi Kappa, Alpha Eta Chapter is a professional coed fraternity at Ohio State University for students planning careers in education. The original iteration of this group was Beta Epsilon, established in 1924 at Ohio State University. A few months later, the group became the Beta chapter of Sigma Delta Sigma, a fraternity with one other chapter at the University of Illinois. In 1928, it joined Kappa Phi Kappa as the Alpha Eta chapter. Kappa Phi Kappa was once a national education fraternity, founded in 1922 at Dartmouth College; however, as of 2018, the Ohio State University chapter is the only remaining active chapter and consequently operates on a local level. Membership is application-based, and members are required to attend a certain number of meetings and events each semester. The purposes of Kappa Phi Kappa are service, networking, professional development, and socializing.
