 Historical Note

Strollers Dramatic Society was a student-run theater company at Ohio State University. It was founded in 1892 as the Dramatic Club and became Strollers Dramatic Society in 1901. The group was not limited to theater majors, and included undergraduate, graduate, and non-student community members. It gave group members the opportunity to participate in all elements of theater production, including publicity and technical work. In 1981, in order to increase the likelihood of receiving funding from the University and boost membership numbers, Strollers Dramatic Society merged with Student Theatrics, another theatrical student group on campus. The combined group was dubbed Strollers Student Theatrics, which existed at least until 2002.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University, Strollers Student Theatrics Records contain contracts, news clippings, programs, reports, rosters, a scrapbook, and other office files. These materials pertain to the management of Strollers Dramatic Society, as well as plays and musicals produced by the group. Collection materials are dated 1893-1983.
