A student chapter of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA), a national organization, was first formed on the Ohio State University's campus in 1928. This organization is made up of educators, scientists, and other members of the dairy industry who are committed to advancing the dairy sciences. The Ohio State University student chapter held social events, fundraisers, and educational opportunities for its members, as well as educating the greater university community about dairy science. While it was primarily made up of members of the Dairy Husbandry Department and the Department of Dairy Technology, ADSA welcomed any interested undergraduate students. During World War II, the group was defunct for several years due to a lack of members, but regrouped in 1947, and by 1949 was the largest student chapter of ADSA with 100 members. Along with local events and meetings, student chapters of ADSA would often attend national meetings and participate in a scrapbook competition, which documented each chapter's yearly events and activities; the Ohio State University chapter was given a certificate of merit in honor of its scrapbook from 1956.
In 1957, students from the Department of Dairy Technology withdrew from ADSA, leaving it to the Dairy Husbandry Department, and instead formed the Dairy Technology Club. This move occurred due to the diverse interests of students in the two disciplines. Dairy Technology Club was still considered to be a student chapter of ADSA, and it existed until 1967, when its name was changed to the Dairy Technology Forum. This name change was part of an attempt to promote closer student-staff relationships and present more effective programs. It existed until at least 1980. As of 2018, the Ohio State University student chapter of ADSA is called the Buckeye Dairy Club, which conducts social events, fundraisers, and educational opportunities, much like its predecessor organizations.
The Ohio State University, Dairy Technology Forum Scrapbooks date from 1954-1972, and contain scrapbooks created by members of the organization and its predecessor organizations. These scrapbooks were submitted to the national American Dairy Science Association yearly contest, and also serve as a record of the group's activities in each respective year.
