Historical Note
Bucket & Dipper is an undergraduate junior class honorary at Ohio State University. The honorary was originally established in March 1907 as an all-male organization; it is now co-ed, and admits 30 new members a year through an application process. Bucket & Dipper are focused on promoting scholarship, leadership, service, and tradition among Ohio State University students. The organization is a member of the Association of Ohio State Class Honoraries, and is active as of 2018.
Along with the Atius-Sachem honorary of the University of Illinois, Bucket & Dipper are the keepers of the Illibuck Trophy. This trophy, a wooden turtle, is passed back and forth between the two honoraries depending on which team has most recently won the football game between the two universities.
Scope and Contents
The Ohio State University, Bucket & Dipper Records, contain items from the honorary such as administrative papers, membership lists, plaques, and a commemorative dipper. These items date from 1907 to 2008.
