The Engineering Speaking Society was a student organization at Ohio State University that was founded in 1954 and existed at least until 1979. Members of the group, who were engineering students, visited high schools to give presentations about engineering. They would discuss how to prepare in high school to study engineering, the Ohio State University engineering curriculum, engineering careers, and student life at Ohio State University. A secondary purpose of the Engineering Speaking Society was to help its members improve their public speaking skills. The society also funded the Herbert Lincoln Johnston Fund for the Advancement of Engineering Education, a scholarship program for students seeking a career in engineering. The Engineering Speaking Society is not active as of 2018.
