WOSR was an independent, student-run campus radio station at the Ohio State University that began broadcasting in 1971. It was broadcast by carrier current, which is a method of sending radio signals to homes through telephone wiring allowing it to only be picked up in dormitories with transmitters, or through cable radio. Programming on WOSR included music, comedy, talk shows, campus news, and broadcasts of Ohio State University sporting events. Initially the music played was mostly Top-40 hits; however, radio station D.J.s eventually switched to more alternative music, claiming that "if you can hear it on another radio station, [the D.J.s] cannot play it on WOSR." WOSR ceased broadcasting in 1992 due to old equipment and a lack of support from both the administration and listeners.
The Ohio State University, WOSR Records contain the radio station's records, which include the initial station proposal, budget, correspondence, history, programming, and other administrative records dating from 1969 to 1974.
