 Historical Note

Gamma Sigma Delta is an international agriculture honorary fraternity. Its purpose is to promote and recognize achievement and leadership in agricultural science by those in agriculture or any related field. Members are undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, alumni, and faculty, and chapters are governed by faculty and alumni.

Gamma Sigma Delta began as Delta Theta Sigma, an agriculture fraternity, organized at Ohio State University in 1905. In 1913, all Delta Theta Sigma chapters except Ohio State University’s became an honorary fraternity and changed their name to Gamma Sigma Delta. Delta Theta Sigma continued at Ohio State University, and a Gamma Sigma Delta chapter was established there in 1928. As of 2018, Gamma Sigma Delta and Delta Theta Sigma are both active at Ohio State University.

 Scope and Contents

The Gamma Sigma Delta, Ohio State University Chapter Records contain membership lists, constitutions, reports, minutes, initiation information, newsletters, correspondence, and other administrative files. Collection materials are dated 1905-1986.
