The Buckeye Dance Force was founded in the early 1950s as the Collegiennes; their name was changed to the Scarlet Steppers in 1977, the Buckeye Dance Force in 1991, and the Ohio State Dance Team in 2007. It was initially a women's drill team that was self-funded through dues and fundraising, and later began to identify as more of a dance team than a drill team. Members performed at basketball games, fundraising events, and community appearances. By 2009, the Ohio State Dance Team was officially regarded as a part of the Spirit Program under Ohio State Athletics, along with the cheerleaders and Brutus Buckeye. This let dance team members access university resources provided to other student athletes, and obtain university funding for the program. The Ohio State Dance Team is active as of 2019.
The Ohio State University, Buckeye Dance Force T-shirt and Photographs contain an undated gray "Ohio State Dance Force" t-shirt, and two team photographs dating from 2000-2001.
Gray T-shirt with red lettering on the front that reads "Ohio State Dance Force" and a hand-written note that reads "Thank you, Bill Hall." The front also includes signatures from team members. A photograph of the team in action and a group photograph, dated 2000-2001, are also included.
