Historical Note

Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity was founded at the University of Richmond in November 1901 around the Cardinal Principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. It is one of the largest undergraduate social fraternities, consisting of over 200 chapters as of 2019.

Sigma Phi Epsilon, Ohio Gamma Chapter, was founded at the Ohio State University in January 1908. The fraternity is open to male undergraduate students, and does not participate in the traditional Greek system rush week with pledging and hazing; instead, they recruit new members year round and get to know them before offering a bid. Members participate in intramural sports, philanthropic and service opportunities, and social events. SigEp, as it's known on campus, also offers the Balanced Man Scholarships; these total to $5000, and are available by application to incoming freshmen male students who demonstrate balance and excellence in their lives. The fraternity is active as of 2019.
