Historical Note

The Ohio State University held classes in military instruction as early as 1874. In 1916 a unit of the Student Army Training Corp (SATC) began on campus, forming the future Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) campus unit.

Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University, Army ROTC Battalion Staff Records contain clippings regarding women in ROTC and ROTC in general at Ohio State University, a file of Ralph D. Mershon Military Society records, an honorary society established in 1955, awards and certificates, and an after action report regarding an Army Drill Team visit to Columbus. The collection also contains VHS videocassettes of local news stories featuring the ROTC program at Ohio State University and 16mm films.
