 Historical Note

Paterson Hall Association was a student organization at Ohio State University, established when Paterson Hall dormitory first opened in 1955. The dormitory initially housed women students only, but became co-ed by 1985. The association was formed to encourage responsibility and loyalty, maintain certain standards, and work with the Dean of Women and Women’s Self Government Organization (WSGA). Any student living in Paterson Hall was an automatic member of Paterson Hall Association. The organization included an executive council, a standards commission, a freshman class council, and officers consisting of a president, two vice presidents, secretary, treasurer, and social chairman. Paterson Hall Association existed into the 1960s at the earliest, but is not active as of 2018.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University, Paterson Hall Association Records contain reports, brochures, handbooks, class notes, and other materials. Collection topics include Paterson Hall leadership and administration, residents, and facilities, as well as academics (colleges, classes, programs, and careers). Collection materials are dated 1952-1969.
